What is the Junior Medalist Golf Program?

The Junior Medalist Golf Program invites junior golfers of all skill levels, ages 6-17, to participate in a fun and engaging golf education experience. The Medalist Junior Golf Program is a level based program that gives the students incentive to work hard and will give parents feedback on their child’s progress upon request. Medalist Gold students (ages 6-12) will enjoy a 30 minute lesson where they will learn all aspects of golf such as full swing, short game, etiquette, and rules. As Medalist Gold students improve and show they are maturing as golfers they will be promoted to Medalist Platinum classes (ages 6-12) for 60 minute lessons. Medalist Diamond is a 60 minute golf lesson experience for juniors between the ages of 13 and 17.

Todd Steller’s goal is to get people excited about playing golf regardless of age and ability. Todd adapts his lessons to one’s skill level (new golfer or seasoned player) by using fresh, creative, and fun methods of instruction, providing the ultimate lesson experience! Todd is a native San Diegan. Growing up, he developed his love for golf by playing with his father, brother, and friends. Todd has always been into sports like basketball, baseball, soccer, surfing, skateboarding, and skiing but gravitated towards golf at a young age. Todd began playing golf at the age of six. He was team captain for the Poway High School Varsity golf team and the University of Redlands golf team. After college, Todd committed to playing golf professionally and toured around California, Arizona, and Nevada. He golfed professionally for many years before he pivoted his career into teaching professionally. Todd loves how every round of golf provides new challenges to overcome, especially mentally. As a teaching professional, Todd’s mission is to give his students the appropriate tools to improve so they can have more fun golfing! He believes that golf facilitates some of the best memories you can ever have. The joy of striking the golf ball perfectly, the incredible views of a beautiful golf course, and even the laughter brought on by an errant shot is addicting and is something that he believes everyone needs to experience.

Ralen Cox

Ralen Cox has worked in the golf industry for about 20 years. He has been with Riverwalk Golf Club for 6+ years. Ralen was born and raised in Palm Springs, California where he spent his early years playing his local executive course, practicing martial arts and playing basketball. His first golf job inspired him to learn the ins-and-outs of the golf industry. Ralen graduated from the Professional Golfers Career College (PGCC) in Temecula, California with an Associates Degree in Golf Course Management. The PGCC served as a stepping stone to being Assistant Golf Professional at PGA West. When Ralen is not playing golf with friends and family, he finds joy in his other hobbies like hiking, camping, practicing martial arts, shooting hoops on the basketball court or watching movies. Ralen strives to have all his students experience “shot euphoria”, the feeling of hitting it pure on the sweet-spot of the golf club. Ralen is able to narrow his student’s focus and give them relatable ways to think about their golf swings. Ralen loves when he can mediate the connection between his student’s mind and body so they experience that “shot euphoria!” more often.
